Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed this week, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
