A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The track was produced following a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for humanitarian aid.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The single features a combination of the original Arabic with new English lyrics.

The group managing the campaign have stated that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be in ruins or severely impacted.

“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving there’s another side to the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
