Combatants laugh as they move on the bed of a pick-up truck, speeding past a row of multiple dead bodies and driving towards the sinking Sudan's sun.

"See all this work. Look at this act of genocide," a combatant cheers.

The fighter smiles as he points the camera on his person and his associate militiamen, their paramilitary insignia clearly shown: "They shall all die like this."

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that relief organizations fear resulted in the deaths of more than two thousand civilians in the African urban center of al-Fashir last month.

A Community Cut Off from the Outside

After maintaining the urban area under blockade for approximately two years, from the summer the RSF moved to reinforce its position and prevent access for the remaining inhabitants.

Space-based imagery demonstrate that forces started to build a massive sand wall - a raised sand barrier - around the boundaries of el-Fasher, blocking roads and blocking relief supplies.

As the siege intensified, multiple people were murdered in an RSF strike on a religious building on 19 September, while the United Nations said 53 further were slain in drone and cannon attacks on a displacement camp in fall.

By sunrise on October 26th the militia defeated the last army positions and seized the main compound in the city, the main facility of the Military Unit, as the government forces retreated.

Among the most horrific videos to emerge and studied revealed the results of a mass killing at a educational facility on the western of the city, where scores lifeless forms were seen strewn throughout the area.

An elderly man clad in a robe sat alone amongst the bodies. He turned to gaze as a fighter carrying with a firearm proceeded descending the stairs in the direction of the individual. pointing his rifle, the fighter discharged a one bullet at the man, who collapsed to the surface lifeless.

"How come is this individual yet alive," another militiaman shouted. "Kill this person."

Space-based imagery captured on late October seemed to substantiate that killings were also carried out on the roads of el-Fasher, as reported by a analysis published by the academic research center.

An witness who provided testimony said the individual had seen "multiple of our relatives getting executed - these individuals were collected in a specific area and everyone eliminated."

Militia Leaders Seek to Implement Reputation Management

In the days that followed the killings, paramilitary leader conceded that his forces had perpetrated "violations" and announced the occurrences would be looked into.

Included among detained was following a investigation detailing his executions. Meticulously choreographed and modified video published on the paramilitary's official social media platform depict him being taken into a cell at a jail on the edges of the city.

Meanwhile, the paramilitary force and associated digital accounts began attempting to reframe the story.

Updates presenting its fighters providing supplies to inhabitants were shared by some accounts, while the militia's public relations unit published several videos purporting to display the compassionate treatment of military prisoners of war.

In spite of the digital effort being employed by the RSF, their actions in el-Fasher have provoked global outrage.
