Dyche is the main contender to become the next Forest head coach, after the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, and the Premier League club hope to finalize a agreement on Monday. Postecoglou was fired shortly after Forest's loss by Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday. Forest sit 18th in the table after just one victory in 8 league games, during what has been a campaign of turmoil. Dyche has had positive negotiations over the past day, and sources close to the appointment have indicated his prospects of landing the job have increased substantially over the weekend. Other Candidates Considered Roberto Mancini has also held discussions with Forest officials, while Fulham manager Marco Silva is admired but under contract. There is also a substantial buyout clause in Silva's contract that has emerged as a consideration, given Forest have previously invested on firing Postecoglou and Nuno Espirito Santo this term. Whether Silva would be prepared to leave Fulham during the campaign is also believed to be an issue. Insiders are suggesting that Dyche is currently the standalone contender, given the challenges in hiring Silva, while the initial interest in Mancini is understood to have cooled. Forest's Managerial Merry-Go-Round Forest proprietor Evangelos Marinakis sacked Nuno only three matches into the campaign and succeeded him with Postecoglou. The Australian failed to win a game and his dismissal - 39 days after his appointment on 9 September - resulted in his tenure at Forest is the briefest full-time coaching reign in Premier League history. Dyche was on the books of Forest as a junior in the late '80s while Brian Clough was manager, but did not earn a first-team appearance. He has not had a coaching job since being sacked by Everton in January after nearly two seasons in charge of the Toffees. Dyche won 21, suffered 31 and tied 23 of his 75 Premier League matches as Everton boss, leading the club to mid-table finishes. Prior to that, Dyche spent almost a decade as Burnley manager between October 2012 and April 2022, on two occasions winning promotion to the Premier League and enabling the Lancashire club qualify for Europe for the first occasion since 1967. He also had a period in charge of Watford for the 2011-12 campaign, only to lose his position following a takeover of the club. Kettering-born Dyche had his whole professional career as a defender below the top flight, accumulating over 500 appearances for clubs including Chesterfield, Bristol City, Millwall, Watford and Northampton.
