The Accident Per a release from his family, Shipley was operating a machine when it ignited. The 40-year-old managed to escape, it was not before he suffered major burn injuries over a large area of his body. He reached a ranch employee, who transported him to a nearby medical facility. Subsequently, he was airlifted to a hospital in Austin, where he is in critical but stable condition. “Please pray for full healing and no infections or other issues on his journey back to health,” wrote his brother, Jaxon Shipley, on Instagram. Extent of Injuries It has been reported that Shipley suffered third-degree burns to over one-fifth of his body. His brother noted that the main danger at this stage is the threat of infection and pneumonia. Recalling Jordan Shipley's Football Journey Shipley received All-American honors with the Longhorns in 2009. As a collegiate athlete, he amassed 248 receptions for over 3,000 receiving yards and 33 scores. He also ran track for the university. Drafted in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, he had stints with Cincinnati, Jacksonville, and Tampa Bay over three seasons. He officially retired in 2014. Personal Life Jordan Shipley is a husband and father of two sons.
