What’s in Trump’s 20-Point ‘Ceasefire Proposal’ for the Gaza Strip?

Assuming each faction accept a specific series of requirements, the halt to conflict will be accompanied by the release of all captives from Israel, including deceased and living, “in under three days” of Israel’s leadership formally approving the deal.

As a trade for the liberation of detainees, Israeli authorities would release a group of 250 Palestinians at present completing indefinite prison terms and an additional 1,700 Palestinians in Gaza territory held since the conflict started on October 7, 2023 after the lethal assault by Hamas on Israel.

Importantly, and opposing the perspective of some of Netanyahu’s far-right coalition partners, Israel’s leadership will avoid occupying or take over the territory, which was home to 21 settlements from Israel ahead of their residents were evacuated in the year 2005.

Nor will any person be compelled to depart the Gaza region, the plan promises. People who desire to depart will be authorized to do so without hindrance and permitted to return.

Hamas will not be allowed any participation, “in any form”, in the future administration of the region.

President Trump has called on delegates from Hamas and Israel assembling in Egypt for key negotiations targeting ending the Israeli conflict in Gaza to “accelerate progress,” remarking, in comments on the day of Sunday, that there had been “very positive” discussions.

There were very positive talks with Hamas, and Countries from across the planet (Arab, Muslim, and various other countries) this weekend, to liberate the detainees, stop the fighting in Gaza but, more importantly, ultimately secure long-awaited PEACE in the Middle Eastern region.

These discussions have been very successful, and moving quickly. Specialist groups will meet once more Monday, in Egypt, to tackle and clarify the remaining specifics. Sources indicate that the initial stage will likely finish in the coming days, and I am urging everyone to ACCELERATE PROGRESS.

The United States delegate Envoy Witkoff is expected to join the discussions, as per sources in Israel, together with Israel’s negotiators and a Palestinian group chaired by Al-Hayya, the deputy head of the political bureau of Hamas.

Khalil al-Hayya is reportedly due to have discussions with facilitators from Qatar and Egypt in Cairo, Egypt on Monday morning, before discussions in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh.

However, Israel’s chief negotiator, the strategic affairs minister Minister Dermer, is expected to join discussions later this week, subject to advancements in the negotiations, according to three Israeli officials.

Hope regarding a possible truce has grown globally, with leaders from the West and Arab nations urging both Hamas and Israel to come to a deal. This past Sunday, the Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, spoke with Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and expressed support for the Trump proposal, calling it “the optimal opportunity for stability”, as per a readout.
