A group of ten sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has found guilty ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating untruths regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to making defamatory statements about the pair's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has not yet been published.

A longstanding false narrative suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has been in circulation since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's biological sex.

Their legal filing states that Owens ignored substantial counter-evidence that refuted her assertions choosing instead to give a platform to established defamers.

Owens has often echoed these allegations on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would bet her whole career on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.

Brigitte Macron initially encountered her current spouse when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
